This is a unique and rare piece of history! Our research says it dates back to the 1860's to 1900. They were also called "Wide Awake" torches and were used in political campaigns beginning with the Lincoln campaign of 1860. There are no holes in the font and it still has the wick. As expected it has rust, a few minor dents and the end of the wooden pole is broken off. The filler cap is missing. Total length is 36". The font with holder is 9".
